I once had a friend who always told us she had an allergy to butter , then one day we were doing a road trip to Taupo and she tried one of Mum’s famous onion soup toasts, next minute she had eaten the lot and not a hint of an allergic reaction to be seen , seriously addictive, be warned Recipe by Lynne Perkins
Ingredients
- 250g butter
- 1 packet of onion soup
- 1 loaf of toast or sandwich bread
Method
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees, fan bake.
- Line a baking tray with baking paper
- Using a bread knife (or electric if you have one), cut the bread into 1 to 2cm slices, cutting off the crusts first. Place on the oven tray.
- Mix together the butter and onion soup, and spread onto the bread.
- Bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes watching carefully.
- Turn oven off, leave door open to let them dry out until cool.
